We’ve been chatting with Craig Jones who regularly volunteers at festivals with Hotbox to find out what volunteering at festivals is like…
Q. What made you first sign up to become a Hotbox volunteer?
A. It sounded like a really good way to go to some of my favourite festivals, but also to get experience making the magic happen. And it is!
Q. What tasks were you helping with during your shifts?
A. This year I made a bit of a name for myself with putting tents up! Helping guests in this way is much appreciated. I was also involved with Arena guidance, so making sure that guests knew where everything was.
Q. What’s your most memorable moment from your volunteering experience?
A. I like all the little things that happen when volunteering, it’s the general family feel and friendly attitude from people that make the event great.
Q. What advice would you give to someone thinking about signing up to be a Hotbox volunteer?
A. Absolutely go for it! It’s the best way to experience festivals if you don’t want to buy a full price ticket! I wouldn’t pay for a festival ticket again and would go with Hotbox every time! The friendly, family atmosphere makes all the difference and you go away with at least a dozen new friends!
Q. What was the best part of being a Hotbox volunteer?
A. Staff camping!! Haha no the best thing is the good feeling that you get from helping people and also getting to see some great bands!
