Birmingham-raised singer Jacob Banks reveals his new song ‘In The Name of Love’ which features in the upcoming thriller film The Equalizer 2, starring Denzel Washington.
He was approached for this golden opportunity due to his emotive and poignant song-writing abilities that fit the film’s intensity. Director Antoine Fuqua said “’In The Name of Love’ has a beautiful and important message about love that reflects exactly what our world needs to hear today. The lyrics cut deep and Jacob’s vocals are unmatched. It gives me great pride to have this song included on the soundtrack for The Equalizer 2. I know audiences will be moved by its emotional impact in the film.”
The song itself is a neo blues piece infused with RnB which focuses on Banks’ gruff yet soulful vocals. It perfectly mirrors the mood of Washington’s lead character Robert McCall as he goes on a highly emotion-driven journey of revenge following predeceasing film The Equalizer which was released in 2014.
Banks’ music has become a sync favourite for many TV shows including Suits and Lucifer, as well as video games FIFA 15 and Need For Speed.
